WORKSHOP: Selling Your Work by Selling Yourself
Readings sell books when they are done right. There are things a reader needs to do to keep an audience and things they do that cause an audience to lose interest. Many readers don't know which are which or when they are doing them. To get people to connect with your work, authors need to know how to keep them listening while they read so they will buy after the reading is done. And that's what this workshop is about: selling your work by selling yourself.
This is an important workshop for writers who want to sell books through readings; a practical workshop wherein participants will read their work and critique each other. I have heard far too many writers read their work in front of an audience, then wonder why no one bought copies of their book afterward. If you want to sell books at readings, you need to take this workshop.
